i don't quite understand what the problem is. By "Bios" do you mean kernal? What exactly is the issue that is hindering you from installing fedora? error messages, etc.

do you have to have fedora? or would a fedora/red hat based distro be ok? have you try'd fuduntu?

would love to help but need a bit more info.

EDIT**
does it work as 'live' ?

I agree with port80's post as there really shouldn't be an issue with Live install of ANY linux distro.

Linux is so simple to install these days and pickup all devices attached to your laptop, no problem.

I highly recommend a gui free linux distro to learn Unix shell programming. Really it will make you do everything correctly and make you so much more capable.
Ubuntu is too much like windows now with all the fancy GUI stuff.
Cut out the display window and let me into the back of the store where it all really happens!!:)

if microlife is using a netbook some netbooks wont boot from FAT32 formated flash memory and they dont come with a disc drive. or if the bios is locked you cant boot from a external device. so bios can be some what relivent to the problem, BUT we need more specifics.
